Sanctus Real’s album We Need Each Other was nominated for a Grammy award!  How often do you get to see a Grammy-nominated artist perform for $5?  What a treat!

We sold 50 $5-tickets in 10 minutes on Sunday.  We will have 150 more to sell this week.  I will be at the Grace Centre on Thursday evening from 3pm until 10pm if you want to purchase tickets then.  Otherwise, you can take your chances next Sunday!

I’ll Fly Away

Monday, May 18th, 2009 by Bart Blair

I started recording a new album back in August 2008.  With my role in the Grace Centre acquisition and subsequent build-out, time “in the studio” was rare over the last 8 months.  But last week I finally finished the project!

The new album, titled With the Breath in My Lungs, is my first full-length solo album.  The 11-song CD will be available at Grace on June 14, 21 and 28 for $15.

Here’s a sample of one of the tracks from the CD:

It’s snowing outside. The wind is blowing

The neighbourhood’s a buzz. Anticipation is growing

My house seems so full, but my heart is still empty here

My wife and my kids, we dress up the tree

We sing a song, and say a prayer and then watch tv

When I wake on Christmas is there any place for these tears?

When will there be, the gift I really need?

Where is the love? Where are you, hope? Why can’t I find peace?

My empty heart is crying out against empty dreams

Another year has come and gone and what did it bring?

And what does all this mean?

And what should I believe?

And what should I believe?

And so it seems the story goes a baby has come

A mighty king, to set us free of all that we’ve done

Could this be the answer to the emptiness I feel?

Amazing grace, Emmanuel, and undying love

A Father’s gift to everyone – His only Son

I need to trust that all of this is real

Maybe this could be the Christmas gift I need

You say You’re love. You offer hope. You promise us peace.

You promise You will fill our souls with heavenly dreams

And now I’m here. I call to You. ‘Cause You’ve called to me

My heart longs to believe

Help me to believe

Help me to believe

You bring us love. You bring us hope. You bring us peace.

A humble child. A baby boy. A heavenly King

When You came down You brought us all

That we would need

If we would just believe

You bring us love. You bring us hope. You bring us peace.

A humble child. A baby boy. A heavenly King

When You came down You brought us all

That we would need

Say that You believe (I believe)

Help Me Buy a New Guitar!

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 by Bart Blair

My wife will tell you that I don’t need a new guitar! But don’t listen to her! I need LOTS of new guitars! Worship can be so much better with LOTS of guitars.

Ok, so maybe that’s not true. The Bible doesn’t say anything about having lots of guitars; or hockey, for that matter.
So maybe we should focus on winning the contest so I can pay for my kids to go to college! How can you help?

Listen to and rate my entries into the CBC Hockey Night in Canada Anthem Challenge.
