We’ll be introducing a new song this weekend from Phil Wickham’s latest release.
The song, and the album name, is Cannons. Enjoy.

It’s falling from the clouds
A strange and lovely sound
I hear it in the thunder and rain
It’s ringing in the skies
Like cannons in the night
The music of the universe plays. We’re singing…

You are holy, great and mighty
The moon and the stars declare who You are
I’m so unworthy, but still You love me
Forever my heart will sing of how great You are

Beautiful and free
The soul of God exceeds
Reaching far beyond the Milky Way
Let’s join in with the sound
Come on, let’s sing it out
As the music of the universe plays. Saying…

You are holy, great and mighty
The moon and the stars declare who You are
I’m so unworthy, but still You love me
Forever my heart will sing of You
All glory, honor, power is Yours. Amen
All glory, honor, power is Yours. Amen
All glory, honor, power is Yours forever. Amen

Who is Dan Macaulay?

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 by Bart Blair

So, here we are, less than two weeks away from our highly-anticipated Easter celebration. This is going to be a fantastic time. We’re having a special communion service at 9:30 on Easter morning. We’ve never done that before. But what a great way it will be to celebrate Jesus on Easter!

We also have Dan Macaulay and his band joining us to lead us in worship at our 11:00 Celebration Service. Having a guest artist on Easter is not new to us (we had Restauracion from Miami a few years ago), but for many of you, Dan Macaulay is a new name. I thought it would be good to tell you a little more about who he is!

Dan is a highly gifted Canadian singer, songwriter, pianist and worship leader.  For more than ten years he has been leading worship in churches and at events across Canada and the United States. Dan released his debut full-length worship album, Captured Again, in 2004. If you listen through the album once, you’ll realize Dan’s knack for composing songs that are catchy, singable and poignant in their spiritual expression.

Dan has given us a couple of free mp3s to share amongst the church family, so take a minute to download these tracks so that you can sing along on Easter Sunday! (right click > save as)

The Radical Presence of God

Thursday, March 6th, 2008 by Bart Blair

In my morning reading, I ran across this quote today and thought it worth sharing. I find it exhilarating to think that…

“The tame God of relevance (must) be replaced by the God whose very presence shatters our egos into dust, burns our sin into ashes, and strips us naked to reveal the real person within. The church needs to become a gloriously dangerous place where nothing is safe in God’s presence except us. Nothing - including our plans, our agendas, our priorities, our politics, our money, our security, our comfort, our possessions, our needs.”
- Mike Yaconelli, “Reflections”

When I reflect on the God that Mike Yaconelli describes, it reminds me that following Jesus was never intended to be a predictable, leisurely walk through the park. It should be scary, exciting, challenging and awe-filled. We follow a God of mystery. We cannot and will not know the outcome of every adventure we are called to in this journey.

I don’t know about you, but that makes my adrenaline surge!

Easter Flier Delivery

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 by Bart Blair

Easter Postcard

On Sunday, March 9, there will be Easter postcards available at the Uplink table for anyone who would like to volunteer to do some door-to-door delivery.

We are asking that each volunteer take 200 fliers (2 bundles of 100) and deliver them to homes in your neighbourhood. Deliver them to 100 homes twice; once between March 9-15 and once between March 16-23.

If you neighbourhood does not have mailboxes, there will be magnets available for you to use and you can actually affix the fliers to the doors on homes where you deliver.

If you have any questions about the process, please contact me (Pastor Bart) at the office or e-mail bblair@grace-music.ca.
